Field Testing Shutdown Systems
Every Powell Valve Closure System is subjected to a complete development program
to guarantee the highest quality, durability, and reliability available in an emergency
shutdown system. Whether aimed at 90 ton railcars, gas cylinders, or ton
containers, Powell’s
development procedure for all new valve closure systems isn’t finished once our
exhaustive in-house testing is completed. In addition to our computer controlled
actuator test bench, Powell also completes rigorous testing of the entire system
in the field, on the actual tank cars or chemical containers where the valve closure
systems will eventually be used by our customers.
By testing our valve closure systems in actual service before making the system
available on the market, we can identify field issues that might otherwise be difficult
to anticipate during our in-house testing. Issues such as corrosive chemical contamination
of the equipment, weather effects, and user abuse can be evaluated under the same
conditions that can be expected in a customer's application. Even though the field
testing period takes time, the resulting reliability and durability more than justify
the delay of making the system available to our customers.
If it's a Powell system, you have complete protection that will last.
Shutdown Systems for Various Container Sizes
Powell is the only manufacturer to offer both pneumatic or electric systems for
150 lb Gas Cylinders, Ton Containers, Railcars, Tank Cars, and Bullet Tanks.
Powell offers several brackets designed to adapt to a of valve types, making
the systems compatible with an extensive list of hazardous gasses. Powell can design,
engineer and test prototype brackets upon request.
