Frequently Asked Questions About the UniPro Valve Closure Systems

Question:

How long does it take to close the valves once the UniPro™ actuator has been activated?

Answer:

It depends on the type of UniPro™ actuator and the type of valve in use. The UniPro™ Standard, UniPro™ LT, and the UniPro™ R will close valves in 10 seconds or less. Some of the soft seat, low torque valves will be closed in only 3 - 4 seconds. Angle plug valves that have been rebuilt multiple times may require slightly more time to close. The UniPro™ QT will close quarter turn angle ball valves in one second or less.

All Powell Valve Closure Systems will stop the leak before a reportable release has occurred.

UniPro™ Standard

UniPro™ R (Reversible)
UniPro™ LT (Low Torque)

UniPro™ QT (Quarter Turn)
